    Knighter back on the box!

Metzeler expert KNIGHT (GBR-KTM), who injured his hip in Round 1 of the E3 World Championship in Spain last weekend made an amazing comeback  to ride through the pain to score a 1-2 for the two competition rounds in Val De Cambra in Portugal.

David showed he is much more than just a superb rider to win on Saturday, after which he said. “I was first in all the tests but the Enduro was very difficult. There were deep lines and lots of dust so it was hard to see. I think this was one of the hardest races I have ever had, especially in the last lap when I started to stiffen up. I took some pain killers before the race but really had to dig deep to concentrate.”

The annual opening “Spain/Portugal” Championship round came to a close in the Vale De Cambra this past weekend, much to riders’ relief after four intense days of competition. The dust, heat, deep ruts and rugged red clay terrain made this POLISPORT GP of Portugal a challenging competition. Falls were numerous and spectacular, especially in the extreme special where more than 5000 spectators witnessed the technical know-how of the best Enduro riders in the world.

Metzeler runners again dominated the event, continuing to make Enduro a sport of their own!

9 Podiums for Metzeler at the World Enduro Round of Spain

After 6 months of waiting and training, the First Grand Prix of the 2011 FIM Enduro World Championship season opens with the GP AMV SEGUROS of Spain in the small Catalan city of Ponts

The Moto Club Segre had the honour of opening the long-awaited opening round . METZELER riders were present in full force including loyal heroes

Mika AHOLA (FIN-HM Honda), Ivan CERVANTES (ES-Gas Gas) and David KNIGHT (GB-KTM), even though they were competing on three different machines.

Ponts is located in the area surrounding Lleida (40 km Northwest) and is between Seo de Urgell and Lleida. 100 km west of Barcelona, the small town of Ponts (3000 inhabitants) offers an ideal terrain for Enduro riding.

Dominated by an old Castle in ruins, Ponts is a quiet city in a splendid environment located at the edge of the Segre River which gave its name to the the Moto Club Organizer.

    IVAN CERVANTES “AT HOME”

The riders were obviously in a hurry to ride on this quality track. Juha

SALMINEN (FIN- HVA) seems to be the new favourite in Enduro 1 but faces

his countrymen Eero REMES (KTM) and Matti SEISTOLA (FIN- HVA), the

Frenchman Rodrig THAIN (HM Honda) and also the Italian Tomas

    OLDRATI (KTM).

Very awaited at home with his new Gas-Gas 250cc 2-stroke, Ivan

CERVANTES needed support of all his Spanish fans to stop the power and

the speed of the French duo Johnny AUBERT (FR-KTM) and Antoine MEO

(FR-HVA)… But Cristobal GUERRERO (ES-KTM) and Pierre Alexandre

RENET (FR-Husaberg) could be contenders of the Enduro 2, as can Simone

    ALBERGONI (IT-HVA).

The Enduro 3 class offered the 1st battle of the season between 2010 World

Champion David KNIGHT (GB-KTM) the current star Mika AHOLA (FIN-HM

Honda)… and many riders like NAMBOTIN (FR-Gas Gas), GUILLAUME

(FR-HVA), LJUNGGREN (SWE-Husaberg) or even the local rider Oriol

    MENA (ES-Husaberg).

Finally in Women’s Enduro class, the 7-time Trials World Champion Laia

SANZ (ES-Honda) tries to win “at home” her 1st Grand Prix against the 2010

Women Enduro World Champion, Ludivine PUY (FR-Gas Gas).

This GP AMV Seguros of Spain is in any case extremely promising and the

fans were numerous this past weekend to encourage and appreciate the

stars of World Enduro in Ponts where the Enduro del Segre maintained itself

as the legend of this series!!

The Paddock was located in the city centre of Ponts and was one

of the two checkpoints of this track. The 2nd checkpoint was located in

Tiurana, also where the Enduro Test and Xtreme Test were located. The

Cross Test took place close to Ponts, in the small town of Vilanova of Aguda.

As the final nations pass through the Metzeler Interact Experience in Spain, we are recieving great feedback from testers on the event and tyres themselves.

With approx 100 riders from around the World, this has been a great experiement to show the differences between the Interact family of tyres.

The testers felt the different abilities of the Racetec K3, Sportec M5 and Roadtec Z8 across road and track tests.

    As part of the presentation to these riders we bring you the media launch video;
