Miquel Silvestre and Metzeler partner for “Ruta Embajada in Samarkand”

Another adventure to discover the most beautiful corners of the planet is about to begin! The project, a collaboration between Metzeler and BMW, will see Spanish journalist Miquel Silvestre, ride the famous 6000+ mile “Ruta Embajada in Samarkand” on the new BMW R1200GS equipped with Metzeler tires.

The adventure will start on March 16th from Madrid and head through Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Albania, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Greece, Turkey, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, arriving at the famous Uzbek city and then ending in  Spain at the beginning of September.  The idea is to retrace the route Madrilenian Ambassador Ruy González de Clavijo took to the Silk Road in 1403 to try to forge a peace treaty with Tamerlane.

Silvestre was born in Valencia and has been a writer for several years. Today he is a journalist that rides his bike and tells the world of his journeys through books and articles.  Metzeler chose Silvestre as their ambassador in Spain because of his passion for motorcycles, adventure and travel—a passion and a philosophy of life that Metzeler shares a with him.

From the wide range of Metzeler tires, Silvestre has chosen the Tourance Next and Karoo tires for his tour, as they are the top choice to switch between on road and off-road riding. The Karoo is especially capable in mud and sand.

The “Ruta Embajada to Samarkand” promises to be exciting and Silvestre you can follow it through weekly reports on our Facebook and Ridexperience pages, as well as Miquel’s personal website.
