How to make 200cc feel very, very fast
What makes a motorcycle feel fast? Torque? Well-set up suspension? How about proximity to other things. On a wide-open airstrip, 150 mph can pass with just a bit of helmet bobbling, while 50 mph blast through a 1/2 lane wide gap through race fans feels like warp-speed. Here’s proof, direct from a town in Columbia:
These are 200cc two-stroke supermotos, which can’t be making more than 40 bhp. The on-board footage, however, looks faster than any superbike. That’s why Enduro racing can be such a thrill, even on a bike with a tiny engine.
